For ten years our IMAGINE dinner has been successful because of our many supporters. You enabled us to continue our dating violence trainings and school awareness projects, thus touching the lives of thousands throughout Rhode Island. We will miss personally connecting with all of you.
Our work supports the dating violence education mandated in grades 7-12 by Lindsay’s Law. We continue to believe that had Lindsay been provided this vital education, she would still be with us today. You have helped to keep Lindsay’s voice alive, as she speaks to teens through our trained teachers in the classrooms, our poster contests, Clothesline projects, book donations, website, and so much more.
- One health teacher shared a letter his student had written to him which read “I just wanted to say thank you for all the dating violence topics we’ve learned throughout the 4 years. Your class helped me leave a very abusive relationship. Every warning sign we talked about was present. I finally ended the relationship. Without the education, I would have never noticed.” The teacher wanted us to know that this was due to the Lindsay Ann Burke Act and our teacher trainings. We know it also takes a well-trained, motivated teacher to bring that education to life within their classroom, and they, together with all of us, are making a difference.
